Goodbye, Berkeley!
Today we say a graceful, bittersweet goodbye to our first consignment store located in Berkeley. Our building was recently sold, and it’s now time to move forward in our journey.
Twenty-six years ago in 1994, Sola Lucy opened its doors to the public. Our founder Lucy Ross wanted to create a small business model that combined fashion with community while providing customers with an independent place to shop that was unique from big-box retailers. This was before sustainability was trendy! Lucy was a maverick with a dream and a mission.
In the years we’ve been in business, people from all over the world have stumbled upon our store, and shopped with us on 4th Street. We’ve processed hundreds of thousands upon thousands of garments and accessories from the inspiring closets of loyal clientele consignors. Shoppers have supported a woman of color in small business who in turn has supported a creative evolving staff of young entrepreneurial women.
We love what we do here, and we’re absolutely committed to serving our community as Best in the Bay at our busy Montclair location. We have so much gratitude for the time we’ve shared together here on 4th Street.
